I have had some bad computer malfunctions that is the reason it has taken so long to post this blog. Reunion was an interesting story where the boy reunites with his father after 3 years. He realizes why his mom divorced his dad and his dad is a major jerk. In the second story a jewish writer is sentenced to death and god gives him another chance to complete his story as soon as he is finished a firing squad kills him.
Polio
Posted in Uncategorized on January 21, 2010 by acm0006uahWas it common for children to die of polio in the 1950’s?
Yes, polio was one of the leading causes of death in the 1950’s among children. 58000 cases were reported in 1952 and 4,000 of those cases were fatal. This is around the time period that the narrator’s daughter would have died in “Sonny’s Blues”. A vaccine was first used in 1952 and now Polio is not a major epidemic in modern countries as it was in the 50’s.
- I entered the question into Google and clicked on the second result (www.honors.umd.edu/HONR269J/projects/sokol.html)
- I confirmed this source with an online encyclopedia.

Happy Endings
Posted in Uncategorized on January 14, 2010 by acm0006uahI thought this was a really interesting story with a cool format. Story A is the standard happy ending and makes for a boring story. In story B John is a genuine ass hole and it ends happily for John and Marge but a tragic ending for Mary. In story C John cheats on his wife Madge with Mary. Mary does not like John and sleeps with James. John walks in on this act and kills James, Mary, and himself. The story ends happily for Marge. Story D Fred and Marge survive a natural disaster and live happily ever after. Story E boring story line, just the continuation of story D. Story F exciting plot involving secret agents. All the stories plot lines are different but all come to the same conclusion John and Mary die. The exciting party is not the who’s and what’s its the how it happened and why it happened.

ghosts
Posted in Uncategorized on October 30, 2009 by acm0006uahI’m not sure if I believe in ghosts or not. I have never seen one and have had no other encouters with them. I do believe that a lot of people see what they want to see so if you believe in ghosts you will probally eventually see one.

Fall Break
Posted in Uncategorized on October 16, 2009 by acm0006uahMy fall break was far from exciting. 75 percent of my time was spent at work. The rest of my time was spent with my band recording at the studio. We have been working on a few knew songs that we are gonna perform for a label showcase in Nashville. Pretty excited and nervess about that. Check us out…..
Funniest thing that has happened to me
Posted in Uncategorized on October 16, 2009 by acm0006uahThis is a very difficult question for me to answer. It is hard for me to pick out one moment in particular so I’ll just tell about a more recent one. Back in September my band was playing a show at a bar in Florence. I invited a new friend to come out to the show seeing as she had never heard me play. It was the first bar style venue that she had ever been to and she thought it was ” a shit hole.” I have played at a lot of bars and this was a very nice bar. She decided she was gonna go get some food and just come back right before we play so as to spend as little time in the venue as possible. The place was pretty well packed and the band before us started there last song so I told her to head back to watch us. Halfway through the song a plumbing pipe in the down stairs bathroom erupted spraying massive amounts of fecal matter althroughout the club. I was outside the back of the club at the time and had no clue that any of this was going on. As I was walking back inside through the back door the band that was playing’s bass player pushed passed me and started vomiting from the smell right next to me. The band was still playing and the club was clearing out fast. At this point in time the massive amounts of water started to spill out into the parking lot. This is the point where my friend arrives. Instead of playing a show in front of a packed club we played in front of two people that night. I blame my friend for jynxing us by labeling the bar as a shit hole. I’m not sure if this classifies as a funny story but it is a FML story.

Many of these common errors have plagued my writing for many years now. The main culprit is using the wrong word in the wrong place. When I am writing I try to imagine myself talking aloud and I write what I say aloud. This can cause confusion because When talking aloud there are no “wrong words”. This makes it very easy for me to confuse words like there and their or deer and dear.
Parking
Posted in Uncategorized on October 2, 2009 by acm0006uahThe recent parking decal increase has not bothered me. With the building of a new sophomore dorm and plans to construct another inter modal parking facility more funding will be needed to support these projects.
